The Shelter is the main location where the family resides. The entrance of the shelter is guarded by a vault door leading to the surface and two large security doors to prevent radioactive particles from entering. The inside of the shelter consists of several shelter rooms in which various structures can be found.
When visiting the surface above the shelter characters are required to wear a hazmat suit or risk radiation poisoning. Here you'll find the oxygen filter, water filter, and camper van. Characters may also construct snare traps to catch animals such as rabbits and deer. Periodically you may also notice NPCs shambling across the waste. Some are just passing by, others will ask if you're interested in trading goods, while others will attempt to join the family in the shelter.
